Essay 2: The old days are better than the present

THE OLD DAYS ARE BETTER THAN THE PRESENT

By Ivannia Chavarria Solis

Today's life is faster, everything happens in a second and the time is counted in money, there are few opportunities to share and enjoy with family and friends. Over the years, it has become very difficult to acknowledge and appreciate all the blessings that life gives us.

Technology and easy access to information, are two of the aspects that make this decade, the time that most innovations have been developed with the aim of improving the living conditions of people, however, what times were the best, now or before? Do all these technological advances have made people happier now than before?

Making contact with a person who is in another country with only one click is an advantage of technology but we overusing the natural resources, in order to create these high-tech gadgets is a serious problem. The last 10 years have been the warmest since the mid-nineteenth century and the temperature has increased almost one degree centigrade during the twentieth century.

Global warming is the answer to the deterioration of the ozone layer caused by contamination, allowing sunlight to penetrate the planet with greater force. The planet has been suffering these climatic changes due to multiple factors, as a result of human behavior.

This is a problem that each day is affecting humanity more. Humans have exploited largely the natural resources without thinking about the future and the consequences this may have for future generations. We used to have more respect and protection of natural resources, we need to pause and rethink the things we do.
